ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

The Lewisville Parks & Recreation Department seeks approval to submit a grant application to the Texas A&M Forest Service to participate in the Community Forestry Grant Program for increasing Human Health, Equity and Accessibility and the Tree City USA Growth Award.  The total maximum funds available through the programs are $50,000 and $10,000, respectively, with a 100% matching requirement. Matching funds are available and have been earmarked within the department’s operating, capital project and tree mitigation funds. Staff members are working with the University of North Texas Advanced Environmental Research Institute, Keep Lewisville Beautiful, the Master Naturalists and the Youth Action Council to develop the grant applications.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the resolution as set forth in the caption above.
