ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

The City of Lewisville’s outdoor warning system alerts community members in outdoor areas of emergency situations. Three existing outdoor warning sirens are not operational or are working at a limited capacity and need to be fully replaced prior to the upcoming spring storm season. These three sirens are approximately 25 years old, and repair is estimated to cost $50,000 with no guarantee that the remainder of the system will remain operational. In addition, due to the age of the sirens, availability of parts may be limited. Based on this information, City staff recommends full replacement of the three sirens. A supplemental appropriation to the Insurance Risk Fund is requested in the amount of $96,174.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the supplemental appropriation as set forth in the caption above.
