ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

On May 28, 2024, the City of Lewisville suffered widespread damage to property resulting from a significant wind and thunderstorm event.  On the same day, Mayor TJ Gilmore, acting in accordance with the authority granted to him under the City Charter, Code of Ordinances, and section 418.108 of the Texas Government Code, declared a local state of disaster (the “Disaster Declaration”). An on-going evaluation of circumstances related to the significant wind and thunderstorm event indicates a necessity to extend the Disaster Declaration. If this resolution is approved, the Disaster Declaration shall continue until 11:59 p.m. on June 10, 2024, unless rescinded, superseded, or amended in accordance with applicable law.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council consider the resolution as set forth in the caption.
