ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:
On January 10, 2024, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) opened the Community Challenge Grant application. The Community Challenge provides small grants to fund quick-action projects that can help communities become more livable for people of all ages. The Neighborhood & Inspection Services and Planning Departments partnered to apply for funding in order to create a program to promote and educate residents about Backyard Cottages by launching a local design competition. The City of Lewisville was awarded $15,000 to launch the proposed design competition that will provide community awareness, growth of understanding, recognition and financial award for eight recipients in the competition, and paid senior volunteership opportunities for those selected to assist in the promotion of the competition. The City of Lewisville’s design competition is expected to run from August to October 2024.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve the Memorandum of Understanding as set forth in the caption above.
