ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

The Police Department and Fire Administration needed to relocate during the construction of the Tittle McFadden Public Safety Center buildings and related improvements. In 2022, the City explored several leasable office spaces and determined that the best site identified was in the Waters Ridge Business Park located at 1955 Lakeway Drive, Suite 230.  The space is approximately 27,000 square feet of conditioned office space with designated parking. An agreement was approved by City Council and executed on June 5, 2022, and a subsequent First Amendment to the original agreement was executed on March 1, 2024. The First Amendment was not brought to City Council because it only exercised the six-month and three-month extensions set forth in the original lease agreement. These combined extensions moved the lease expiration date to November 30, 2024. The City staff, project manager, and architect, believe an additional extension to the lease is required to attain substantial completion on the Tittle McFadden Public Safety Center, the deployment of furniture and equipment, the required decommissioning of the 1955 Lakeway Drive facility, and the relocation of Police and Fire Department.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to execute an amendment to a lease agreement as set forth in the caption above.
