ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

Huffines Chevrolet is a large automotive dealership located on the IH-35E frontage road. The applicant is subdividing a portion of the dealership for a proposed 8,989 square-foot auto parts storage building. The site lies in the IH-35E Corridor Overlay Core Sub-District which has enhanced requirements to the exterior building design standards. The applicant is requesting an alternative standard to the architectural requirements for three of the proposed elevations. The engineering site plan was first submitted in April 2024 and discussions began a year prior. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval (6-1) of the alternative standard on January 21, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the alternative standard as set forth in the caption above.
