ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:
The Texas Department of Public Safety’s agreement to provide law enforcement services for the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) ended on August 31, 2026. Following Denton County’s decision not to provide these services, the Lewisville Police Department began responding to calls on NTTA-owned roadways within the City. The purpose of the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement (ILA) is to provide compensation to the City for law enforcement services on these roadways, including dispatch, patrol, traffic enforcement, crash investigations, abandoned vehicle removal, and criminal investigations. The agreement provides annual compensation of $859,418 for a two-year term beginning September 1, 2026, to help offset the cost of services already being provided without requiring additional dedicated staffing.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve the agreement and authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to execute the agreement as set forth in the caption above.
