ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

In 2019, the City and LISD entered an interlocal agreement to designate eight school yards as public parks during non-school time hours.  The proposed amendment extends the agreement until 2041; formalizes LISD’s use of Queen Margaret Park as a school yard; provides for playground and park improvements at Queen Margaret Park; provides for installation of a playground at Hedrick Middle School; includes the addition of two more elementary school yards; and clarifies the responsibilities of each party. The addition of the two school yards to the agreement will increase the City’s Trust for Public 10-Minute Walk to a Park score from 83% to almost 85%.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the agreement and authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to execute the agreement as set forth in the caption above.
