ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

As part of the 2024 Bond Package, voters approved a project to enhance the Denton County Levee Improvement District with new walking trails and park facilities. This included the opportunity to integrate public art along the trail being added near Rockbrook Elementary School. The bond package anticipated $50,000 of the project budget to be committed to this public art element. The selection committee used the option of direct selection, an approved option for artist selection in the Public Art Policy, to select Pascale Pryor, owner and artist at Les Jardins De Pascale. Pryor had submitted a strong proposal for the Centennial Hike and Bike Trail Public Art Project that the selection committee decided would be better suited for the Levee Improvement District trail because there is more sunlight to cast colors through the stained-glass elements in the planned artwork. Funding for this project is available in the Denton County Levee District (DCLID) Trail Project CIP.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the agreement and authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to sign the agreement as set forth in the caption above.
