Approval of a Utility Crossing License Agreement Between Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the City of Lewisville for the Main Street at Railroad Wastewater Line Replacement Project; and Authorization for the City Manager, or Her Designee, to Execute the Agreement.
request
ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:
The Main Street at Railroad Wastewater Line Replacement Project will replace the existing 12-inch sanitary sewer line that crosses under the DART railroad tracks on Main Street, just south of the Old Town Station. Currently, this line serves a substantial portion of Old Town along Main Street and its adjacent roads. However, due to a recent increase in high-density development in the area, the existing infrastructure is nearing its maximum capacity. While the engineering consultant determined that a 15-inch pipe would meet projected demands, the City has opted to install an 18-inch line to ensure the crossing can comfortably accommodate any unforeseen future redevelopment. The existing 12-inch line will be abandoned in place. DART will charge the City a license fee of $2,360 per year, with an annual adjustment of three percent (3%) increase or the Consumer Price Index (CPI), whichever is greater.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve the agreement and authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to execute the agreement as set forth in the caption above.
