ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

As part of the I-35Express project, the Texas Department of Transportation redesigned the access to Garden Ridge Boulevard constructing an interchange with direct connections to the IH 35E service roads. As part of this new alignment, TxDOT also constructed traffic signals on the new bridge deck. This interchange is now part of the TxDOT’s controlled access on-system roadway network within the City of Lewisville and must be added to the list of nine (9) other existing interchanges included in the maintenance agreement for the City to receive reimbursement. The annual reimbursement for the Garden Ridge Boulevard interchange which has one controller will be $3,153 per annum. In addition, as part of the I-35Express project, the interchange at FM 407 was modified from a diamond interchange with two (2) controllers to a diamond interchange with one (1) controller. This change reduces the reimbursement for the FM 407 interchange from $4,920 per year to $3,153 per year. In summary, the City will receive an additional $1,386 dollars per annum net for the new interchange at Garden Ridge Boulevard and modifications to the existing interchange at FM 407, for a revised total of $33,437.05. This item is considered an administrative action and was not presented to the Transportation Board.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the amendment as set forth in the caption above.
