ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

Chapters 29 and 30 of the Texas Government Code provide that the Lewisville municipal court of record be presided over by judges appointed by ordinance. The proposed ordinance authorizes the municipal judges to serve for a designated term of two years and is submitted to the council biennially. The ordinance appoints Brian Holman as presiding judge and Holly Fox, Kristine Primrose and Robin Ramsay as alternate (part-time) judges. Kimberly Lafferty was appointed by ordinance to serve as alternate judge on November 19, 2018. The alternate judges are primarily responsible for magistration services in the city jail on weekends and holidays, and for assisting with court coverage for the presiding judge during periods of vacation, illness or when administrative duties require Judge Holman’s absence.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the ordinance as set forth in the caption above.
