ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

The Lewisville Parks & Recreation Department seeks approval to apply for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Community Outdoor Outreach Program Grant for a new program at LLELA. Working with the nonprofit 29 Acres and current participants of the City’s “A Chance to Dance” program, the team at LLELA will provide accessible and sensory-friendly outdoor recreation programs (LLELA Field Day and A Chance to Hike) to actively engage youth and adults to safely explore the outdoors with the appropriate adaptive equipment. The total cost of the program will be $21,215; the grant application will include a request for $14,990 for adaptive equipment with $6,225 in-kind contributions for staff time, facility use and equipment rental fees already available within the FY 18-19 LLELA budget. The grant application is due February 1.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the resolution as set forth in the caption.
