ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS:

 

City Council has previously expressed support for a state law change that would allow cities to call a local option election without requiring a public petition. While no such bill has been filed in the 2019 Texas Legislature, a bill has been filed that would accomplish the objective of allowing retail to-go sales by local independent breweries. This topic is not addressed in the Legislative Priorities and Agenda. Therefore, City Council approval is required for the City to take an official position.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

That City Council approve the resolution as set forth in the caption above.
